Asthma Update & Other Ramblings

8.21.2014

*disclaimer-I was planning on this just being an update on Theo's asthma, but turned into more than that.  This is my way of "documenting" what happens in our family.  It probably seems like rambling, but I LOVE looking back at posts from several years ago seeing what we were doing.  Ok, that's it.  Happy reading.

Many of you have been asking how Theo is doing with his asthma.  We went to an asthma specialist about a month ago.  They did a bunch of tests and then decided to have him try Flovent.  It's a light steroid he uses everyday and is taken through his inhaler.  The only side effect we've seen so far is it makes him a tiny bit hyper, BUT he hasn't been to the ER since we've started it.  PTL!!  We go back next month for a follow up visit.  So glad my little boy is feeling better.  Please continue praying for him and that he stays healthy.

While I'm at it, I'll do a summer update.  It's gone by way too fast!  It started with Tim overseas for a couple weeks then my parents up for a visit.  Tim and I headed to Chelan for a week at the end of June, without kids, and it was fantastic.  We missed our precious babies, but it was nice to get away for awhile.  It's been pretty and warm here most days...about 70-80 degrees...and I've really enjoyed it.  We've spent a lot of time outside playing in the backyard, in the pool or at a park nearby.  VBS was in the middle of July.  I was able to teach for part of the week then had to work at school the other part.  It was fun seeing all age kids in the classroom.

Most of the summer was also consumed trying to get the Music Academy up and running.  The week of VBS, I told my boss about the academy and that I'd be leaving at the end of August.  Like I mentioned in my last post, it's bittersweet leaving a job I've been at for awhile, but am excited about this next chapter with the academy and where the Lord's leading.

We put the kids in soccer this summer; just once a week.  They could be on the same "team" this time around...so we didn't have to go to separate practices!  They didn't play any games; just learned the ropes.  Theo loved it.  He's pretty good at dribbling (kicking) the ball.  Madelyn was pretty impartial.  Some weeks she got into it, others she just wanted to play on the playground close by.

Madelyn moved up to a twin bed!  She loves it and feels like such a big girl.  We found one on craigslist for a steal.  I'm teaching her to make her bed in the morning.  She always lines her animals up by her pillows when she does it.  My cutie.  She starts preschool in a couple weeks and dance as well.  I always tell her she can't grow up.  Then she repeats "but mommy, I have to grow up so I can get bigger".  She's VERY excited about preschool.  She's my social, chatty little girl.

Theo is started to talk more and repeat what we say.  His favorite is "VBS!!".  He'll say it over and over and over thinking he's so funny.  He now calls his little doggie he sleeps with "ruff ruff"...and every other dog he sees now has that same name.  Except he does call our puppies by their names.  He loves messing with them too.  Daisy takes it; Sadie..not so much.  He copies everything you do...especially everything his sister does.  She knows it too.  She'll do certain things on purpose...like blow bubbles in her milk cup.  I think so she's not the only one who gets in trouble!  Oh, these 2 certainly keep me on my toes!

Ok.  I think that's it for now.  Here are some more pictures for ya...

Love these babies and their wonderful parents sooooo much. Are you sure you have to leave me? I'm gonna cry every Thursday and Friday I have to come to school and be here by myself. BTW, I want a copy of the picture of them in their soccer shirts sitting on the balls facing away from the camera. That's going in my classroom. Thank you.
