Easter 2013

3.31.2013

Happy Easter!

This year we had a first for Madelyn-Easter egg hunting! It's beautiful up here in the Northwest so we went out yesterday before nap time and hid some eggs for her. She had fun and little brother hung out and watched. He was content sitting in the grass and playing with a couple plastic eggs.

This morning, Tim got to church early (as is his normal Sunday routine). This means I have to get the kids ready and out the door in time to teach during 1st service. I aim to leave 15 minutes before I really need to so that hopefully I'll leave on time. I wait til the last min to throw Theo's clothes and my clothes on to avoid spit up on the outfits. MJ's doing a great job potty training, but it means she has to use the potty before we leave. Then inevitably little boy likes to make a stinky right before we leave. Seriously, when we're walking out the door. Every Sunday it seems like.

Starting off my Sundays running around like a crazy mom doesn't always put me in the best mood on my way to church. I'm already tired and I haven't even taught my 1st and 2nd graders yet! But then I sit in the car driving to church and turn on the radio. There's always a song that comes on that speaks to me. This morning it was Casting Crowns "Glorious Day". Perfect song to hear this morning. I was reminded of how my God sacrificed His life for me, but then 3 days later on Easter Day, He rose again. I'm sure He was waaaay more tired and weary than I was this morning when He was hanging on that cross. Suffering for me.

Then sitting in service I heard a song by the choir "Love is Alive". Once again reminding me what Easter is all about and why we celebrate this day. Jesus is alive and hopefully living inside of each one of us.

After church, we met some friends for lunch, came home and now the babies are asleep.

Sundays are always long for us because we normally go back for small group in the evenings. But these long days are well worth it.

I tried snapping a few pics of the kids before church. We took a family pic right after church. It turned out...ok :).

Off to hunt eggs!

Theodore: 10 months

3.26.2013

Little baby boy,

You are in double digits! Getting so big.

You are still extremely sweet and cuddly. So calm and content. We love you to pieces.

Your sister loves you so much as well. Always making sure we don't forget about you and that you're being taken care of.

You are so great at playing by yourself if one of us needs to tend to big sis or the doggies.

Here are some 10 month stats:

-You probably weigh about 19 lbs

-Very chatty! Especially when your sister is still asleep or not around. You do love the extra attention.

-Crawling everywhere! Always up to and into something, but when mommy or daddy say "no touch", you listen and stop. So smart and obedient already.

-Pulling up on most things. You'll be walking before we know it!

-Wearing size 3 diaper, mostly size 9 month clothes

-Eating 6oz 4 times a day. And boy do you suck it down! You're also eating all kinds of table food and love it all! (Sweet potatoes aren't your favorite, but you at least try them) now typically eating turkey, cheese and fruit for lunch and whatever we eat for dinner.

-You also started drinking water out of a sippy cup-both with and without a straw!

-Going down at night around 7pm and waking up around 7:30-8am. Still taking 2 naps a day-am nap between 9:30-11 and pm nap between 1-3:30pm.

-This month you helped mommy and Madelyn celebrate birthdays! Got your first taste of bday cake at your sisters party and loved it!

-Still only 2 bottom teeth, but you are a drool machine! We're sure there are more coming!

-Just started signing "more" and "all done"

-Also just started giving kisses!

Madelyn: 2 Years Old

3.20.2013

Dearest Madelyn Joy,

You are 2 years old!

Such a sweet, lovable girl. You are also very active with a short attention span! Very much a 2 year old.  But we wouldn't have it any other way.

You absolutely love your brother. If he runs out of Cheerios in the morning, you'll take some off your tray and put them on his. Always making sure he's taken care of and noticed.

Here are some of your 2 year old stats:

-You went to the doctor and weigh 28 lbs and are 32.5" tall.

-Still wearing size 18 month and 2T clothes. You are in size 5 diapers and size 6 shoe.

-You started up potty training again last week. You're doing pretty well. Some days are better than others. Only a handful of accidents, but that short attention span makes you not want to sit there and "try" for very long.

-You now have 12 teeth. A couple more are starting to push there way in as well!

-Still not talking very much. You sign and point at most things. We can understand you most of the time, but then there are times when we have no idea what you want. It'll come.

-Napping anywhere from 2-4 hours in the afternoon. Your typical nap is from 1-3:30pm.

-You haven't had many time outs this month because you decided to start loving on your brother instead of poking him.  A nice change!

-Your Mimi and Papa came to visit this month. They love you so much!

-You went to the zoo with Auntie H and loved every minute of it!

-Last week you had a fever and stuffy nose.  You seem to be feeling better; just a little cough lingering.

-Your 2nd birthday party was last night. Only a handful of people, but you loved all the attention!

-You still go to bed around 7pm. You'll wake up around 7:30-8am.

-You helped mommy celebrate her 29th birthday with some yummy pizza at Sparta's and a big cookie cake!

Watching your favorite cartoon "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood"

Bath time!

Yummy!!

Happy 2nd birthday beautiful girl!!

Zoo with Auntie H!

3.12.2013

On Saturday, Madelyn went with our friend, her Auntie Heather, to the zoo. Just the two of them. Madelyn had so.much.fun! We're blessed with great friends and family. Tim and I stayed home with Theo and worked on some projects around the house that needed to be done.

When Madelyn got home from the zoo, she could not stop smiling. I asked her about the carousel she rode and all the animals she saw and all she did was grin and bounce up and down. Thanks Auntie H for taking her.

And for some pictures that Heather took....

And he's crawling...

Mimi and Papa's Visit

3.01.2013

Tim's parents came to visit this past week!  We had a fun time of playing, eating, going to church, nap time...and playing some more.  Tim and I both had to work while they were here, but we won't complain about free babysitting!

Here are a few pictures to document their visit...

Having tea with Papa...and the dogs

on a walk to the mailbox

"pretend" sleeping next to papa

Best pic of the 4 of them we could get!

Feeding time!

Playing the piano in daddy's office

The best one of the 6 of us!

Thanks for coming!  Enjoyed our time!
